Cohen Elder Law, LLC Estate & Long-Term Care Planning
The planning process begins with a brief 20-minute phone consultation. During the call, an attorney will discuss your concerns and solicit additional information to be certain that Cohen Elder Law is the right firm for you. There is no charge for this call. At that time, an initial planning meeting will be scheduled.
Once an initial meeting is scheduled, you will receive a packet of initial meeting materials. The packet includes a confirmation letter, with the date and time of your meeting, as well as instructions for other important documents to gather and bring to the meeting. The packet also includes a Cohen Elder Law fee schedule and a detailed Planning Questionnaire. The Questionnaire is a fillable PDF and can be completed on the computer or printed out and completed by hand. Although the Questionnaire is fairly detailed, the more thorough you are with your answers, the more in-depth the initial planning meeting will be. These questions are merely designed to get you thinking about the questions to be discussed during the initial meeting.
During the meeting, you will provide in-depth background and history regarding you or the loved one for whom we are planning, including family dynamics, estate planning documents, medical history, as well goals and objectives. The attorney will keep detailed notes and will create a list of recommendations and follow-up items that require further attention after the meeting. The meeting will conclude with a thorough review of the plan, as well as the follow-up assignments, and an Engagement Agreement, if applicable.
There is absolutely no obligation to retain Cohen Elder Law beyond the initial planning meeting. Regardless of your needs, you will leave the meeting with a tangible plan (called "Cohen Elder Law Recommendations") in place. You are free to take the plan and implement it on your own, or, you may retain Cohen Elder Law to help with all or part of the recommended plan. If you wish to retain Cohen Elder Law beyond the initial planning meeting, estimated fees will be discussed at the conclusion of the meeting.
